Vitamin D and calcium are vital nutrients required for maintaining bone health. Deficiency of either nutrient is prevalent among the elderly population and is a major contributor to osteoporosis, osteomalacia, and increased fracture risk. This review explores the physiological roles of calcium and vitamin D, evaluates evidence from key literature, and highlights current recommendations for their intake in the elderly to prevent bone-related diseases.

Antibiotics are essential medicines used for the treatment and prevention of bacterial infections. Rational antibiotic therapy requires appropriate selection of the antimicrobial agent, dose, route, frequency and duration to achieve effective treatment while minimizing adverse effects and antimicrobial resistance. Renal function is an important consideration because many antibiotics are eliminated primarily through the kidneys. In patients with renal impairment, reduced renal clearance may prolong drug half-life and increase antibiotic accumulation, thereby increasing the risk of toxicity. Renal impairment may occur as acute kidney injury (AKI) or chronic kidney disease (CKD). Assessment of renal function.........

Northern Côte d'Ivoire is home to a rich flora, the industrial and pharmaceutical potential of which remains largely untapped. Amid the search for alternatives to synthetic inputs, essential oils derived from local aromatic plants represent a high-potential bioresource. This study characterizes and compares the phytochemical profiles of essential oils extracted from the peel of Citrus sinensis (orange) and the aerial parts of Cymbopogon citratus (lemongrass) two resources abundant in the north of the country. The oils were obtained via hydrodistillation (Clevenger method), and their chemical composition was determined using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Results are expressed as the relative percentage.........
